Dear Mr. Howe,
The Fund for the Relief of Distress in China.
With reference to my letter to you of November 11 th on the subject of the above Fund, in order that your recoris of the transact- ions may be complete I now send you copies of correspondence dealing with the transference of the Honorary becretaryship of the Fund from myself to Dr. Gordon Thompson of the Lester Institute, Shanghai. The circumstances necessitating this transfer are described in a letter from myself to Lord Donoughmore dated November 5th, and this in turn was followed by the formality of my resignation dated November 9th.
I am also sending a copy of these letters to Sir Geoffry
Northcote.
At the Executive Committee meeting held on November 11th ar. Gamon, the Lord Mayor's Secretary, said that the objection which the Lord Mayor entertained to the centralization of work connected with the expenditure of the Fund in the offices of one of the bodies associated with its collection wo.1i have applied equally to such centralisation at the Mansion House.
The Central Office of the Fund, ie, accordingly, to be at 121, Westbourne Terrace where sufficient accommodation has been found to house also the work of the Medical Sub-Committee, the Clothing and Comforts Sub-Committee and the secretary's office.
